A Beautiful Bilingual Celebration at the Royal Berkshire Hotel

On 16th August 2025, Chantal and Paul celebrated their wedding at the gorgeous Royal Berkshire Hotel in Ascot, surrounded by friends and family from both the UK and Belgium. With many of their guests speaking French, they wanted the whole day to feel welcoming and easy for everyone, a true meeting of cultures.

Because I’m a bilingual English – French DJ and MC, they booked me to look after the music and announcements from start to finish. I also had the honour of reading the registrar’s French translation during the ceremony so every guest could follow along and feel part of the moment.

Chantal & Paul’s Wonderful Review

After their wedding, they left me an incredible review on Google:

“Being Belgian I wanted my wedding to be the union of the Belgian French speaking culture and the English culture. Brian having lived in France when he was younger could speak and read French. He also had knowledge of French music.

Brian was both the master of ceremony and dj at our wedding. Thanks to him the ceremony and the announcements were in both French and English.

The disco was a mix of both English and French music. All the guests commented how good the music was and how much fun they had during the evening party. That night I felt 25 years younger, dancing all evening on songs that I hadn’t danced to for a long time. We all had so much fun, that party was amazing and we didn’t want it to end.

Brian also managed to have all the English people on the dancefloor for a typical French song, Les lacs du Connemara. I’ll never forget that moment, two cultures became one.

Thank you Brian for making our wedding so special and unforgettable. We are so grateful.”

Blending Two Cultures Through Music

The atmosphere throughout the day was warm, relaxed and full of personality. From the ceremony to the drinks reception, I kept the background music flowing while guiding guests between each moment in both English and French.

For the evening party, I mixed English favourites with classic French tracks that meant a lot to Chantal and many of the Belgian guests. The dancefloor never emptied, and there was a genuine buzz throughout the night as both sides of the family discovered songs they loved.

A standout moment was getting the entire room, including the Brits, dancing to the French anthem Les Lacs du Connemara by Michel Sardou. Seeing everyone join in on the dancefloor felt like a perfect symbol of the day: two cultures coming together and having an amazing time.

A Custom First Dance Mix for Three Dance Styles

One of the most personal touches of the day was the custom mix I created for Chantal and Paul’s first dance. They wanted something unique that reflected their love of dancing, and Chantal asked if I could blend three styles; waltz, rumba and swing into one seamless track so they could perform three dances in a row.

The mix started with the first minute of “Come Away With Me” by Norah Jones for their waltz. From there, it shifted into “Just The Way You Are” by Bruno Mars for the rumba. To finish, I blended straight into “Shut Up and Dance” by Walk The Moon, fading from the beginning to lift the energy and invite everyone onto the dancefloor.

The moment the beat kicked in, the floor filled instantly – a perfect transition from something personal and romantic into a huge party moment.
