Wedding supplier spotlight: Tie The Knot Wedding Catering

Food, glorious, food! Fantastic food at weddings can really be a highlight of the day – when guests all gather round, socialise and share your first meal together as newlyweds.

One wedding catering company who are passionate about ensuring that couples and their guests enjoy their dining experience is Tie The Knot Wedding Catering – who we’ve been lucky enough to work with (and personally taste just some of their delicious foodie fare!), over the years.

In our latest Wedding Supplier Spotlight series, we spoke to the award-winning Tie The Knot team to hear more about their history, what they do and hear their top tips for choosing a wedding caterer.

When did Tie The Knot Catering start – and why?

Tie the Knot began over four years’ ago. After relocating Strong Flavours to West Sussex, Company Directors Nick and Graham felt that whilst their knowledge and experience were perfect to offer an honest, modern and steadfast service, they needed to create an atmosphere that could demonstrate to clients their passion and enthusiasm for all of the brilliant aspects of catering for someone’s special day. Thus the brand name of Tie the Knot Wedding Catering was born.

The Tie the Knot team built their careers in the events industry, working across London and the South East. When the opportunity arose to step away from large corporate companies and provide a smaller, more holistic service, we took the opportunity with both hands.

How would you describe what you do?

Here at Tie The Knot, we believe passionately in food and quality of service, and we offer both those things within a price range that far exceeds expectations. Events are planned by a team with over 15 years of experience and always executed by a professional core Tie The Knot team. We work sustainably, using local produce and working with Sussex suppliers wherever possible.

Our menus are designed to wow, both aesthetically and in taste within the strengths of our venues, so you can rest assured that, wherever you’re getting married, you’ll have a menu to seriously impress your guests from the very first canapés to the last spoonful.

What do you enjoy most about what you do – as a team?

There are so many wonderful aspects to working in the wedding industry. It is a privilege to play a part in somebody’s special day, and we are honoured to work with and learn about each of our couples throughout their planning journey. There is absolutely nothing like the buzz of a wedding day and that beautiful moment of calm as everybody tucks into the menu our clients have painstakingly curated – Now THAT’S a really special moment!

What would be your top tips for choosing a wedding caterer?

Our top tips for wedding catering success are:

  • Ask for a quote including everything you will need. This way there will be no nasty surprises when that final quote comes through.
  • Don’t overlook the smaller details , these can make all the difference on the big day. What crockery cutlery and glassware is used? How are the staff dressed? What were your first impressions at the tasting? How quickly did they respond to your first email?
  • Spend a bit of time on the socials – visuals are important to see how a company perceives themselves: are the photos genuine or just done through shoots , are they portraying themselves in a good light , one that you would be happy to have serve and represent your day?
  • Always trust your gut – This applies to all your wedding planning decisions!
